The Times has spotted a new indicator of gentrification: organic dry cleaners. These cleaners are "joining the head-to-tail butchers and the boutique bike shops" in gentrifying 'hoods like LIC and Greenpoint. A professor from NYU went so far as to say green cleaners trump two traditional gentrifier signposts. "We've gone way beyond organic food, and Starbucks is passé. Organic cleaners have become a barometer." [NYT]
