Archicritic James Gardner calls 345Meatpacking "one of the better buildings" to go up in its 14th Street 'hood in recent years?but all the same, he doesn't think it's quite as cool as the Yayoi Kusama design that used to adorn the building's construction netting. "As good as it is, this all-but-completed structure?will never surpass what Kusama had wrought in terms of drama and pure visual pizazz. In fact, its aesthetic ambitions are precisely contrary to those conceived by Kusama when she devised the covering for the building.
