Officials are considering taking some of the grody muck dredged from the Gowanus Canal during the massive cleanup effort and turning it into solid ground that would be at the disposal of a local concrete tycoon. Yeah, the gook would get decontaminated before getting compressed into terra firma, but residents lament that the extra built-out land would go toward industrial uses, rather than to improving the neighborhood with, say, a park.
