Hand a blank map to a New Yorker you don't know, and let them draw their memories on it?whether or not they correspond with geographical constraints or physical landmarks. That's the simple philosophy behind Becky Cooper's project Map Your Memories, which has encouraged both notable city residents and everyday folks to create personal renderings of Manhattan for her Tumblr, which is being turned into a book set to be published in April. One illustration (right), by cartoonist/essayist Tim Krieder, labels the Financial District the "Realm of the Vile Ones" and Murray Hill the "Ghetto of the Young." Midtown East in general?
