Yes, NYC Is Getting Two New Gene Kaufman-Designed Hotels

The DOB Issued a permit in September for a new Gene Kaufman-designed hotel at 125 West 28th Street, which was rumored to be a Cambria Suites hotel. It is, in fact, one of Cambria Suites' first two hotels in Manhattan, both set to open in 2014. And?brace?Gene Kaufman is designing both of them. The first (part of Kaufman's West 28th Street takeover) will have 135 suites, two courtyards, and a roof terrace. The second, at 30 West 46th Street, will have 196 suites and various hotel amenities. Those are renderings of both hotels, above. The goal, in Kaufman's words, was "fresh, transparent design that is meant to feel light, airy and welcoming to guests."
