1101 Broadway Demo; Bialystoker Home Landmarks Hearing

New, 2 comments

FLATIRON DISTRICT?A tipster sent word that interior demolition began on the top floors of 1101-07 Broadway, so we did a little digging through DOB filings to see what was going on. Turns out the building is being converted from commercial use to residential use, and six additional stories are being added to the 16-story building. The architect for the project is L. Stephen Hill of Goldstein Hill & West Architects. No renderings are on the architects website, but we've reached out for more information and will update when we hear back. [CurbedWire Inbox]

LOWER EAST SIDE?The former Bialystoker Nursing Home, which preservationists would like to see landmarked, will go before the Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday, Feb. 12. No decision will be made, but the public will be able to testify as to why they believe the building should be landmarked. The board that controls the building would like it to be developed.
