The Willets Point megaproject is moving forward, and new details about the plans show that the developers wanted to include a massive casino on Citi Field's parking lot. Long Island's Shinnecock Indian Nation endorsed the plan, and the developers, Related Companies and Mets-owning Sterling Equities, offered the city $100 million for the 62-acre site, 23 of which they were awarded. With Cuomo considering changing state legislation to allow casinos, opponents are worried that the Willets Point casino will become a reality if the laws change.
