UPPER EAST SIDE?The Museum of the City of New York is seeking photographs of Hurricane Sandy's destruction, the city's preparation before the storm, and the ongoing recovery efforts. The photos will be showcased in an exhibition this April to coincide with the six month anniversary of the storm. Novice and professional photographers are invited to submit images. The museum is particularly interested in before-and-after images that show the same subject. [CurbedWire Inbox; submission guidelines]
NEW YORK CITY?The Department of Buildings rolled out a free smartphone app today that lets users access all of the intel in the department's Building Information System. BIS provides details about all current and past construction permits, inspections, and certificates of occupancy, plus historical information. So now construction-watching building geeks (hello!) can pull up a building's info while standing right in front of it instead of writing down the address to look up later.
