Fortress of Glassitude Moves Skyward on Park Avenue South

New, 4 comments

After years of speculating about the future of Christian de Portzamparc's crystalline 400 Park Avenue South, we are finally moving into the next phase of the project: construction watch! Wired New York user Tectonic sent along some photos of the site, taken yesterday, that show the foundation work and the installation of crane parts. Toll Brothers is developing the 40-story building with Equity Residential, and the building should be complete by 2015. The bottom 22 floors will be rentals by Equity, and Toll is creating 99 condos on the top 18 floors.

There's no pricing information for the building yet, but Toll Brothers website says the project will open for sales this fall. The website also details the amenities: "state of the art fitness center, yoga room, spin room, residents' lounge, rooftop terrace with bbq, indoor lap pool with Jacuzzi spa, steam room, and media room." Plus there will be "a children's playroom, conference meeting room, screening room, golf simulator, bicycle storage, and individual storage lockers." Not too shabby.
