Demolition Watch?

New, 5 comments

A three-story red house at 54 MacDougal Street may not been long for this world, as demolition permits were filed for the property at the end of February. Nearly 200 years old, the building became famous when it was used the film Men In Black as a jewelry shop. The folks at the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation seem to think this is related to development pressure from the Hudson Square Rezoning, but that's only speculation. We reached out to the owners listed on the DOB permits for more info. [Untapped NY; GVSHP]
