Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer unveiled a proposal for the East River Blueway?the revamp of the East River waterfront between the Brooklyn Bridge and 38th Street?last month. The Architect's Newspaper sits down with WXY Architecture + Design, the team that created the renderings for the three-and-half-mile project?and speaking of renderings, there are now more! WXY's Claire Weisz explains that improving "habitat and water quality?to bring in more birds and fish?and how to slow down the water speed in the river" were major questions for the architects. They answered them by proposing wetlands that will increase water filtration, slow down the river, and decrease waves.
