Oro 2 Is Rising; Post-Sandy Rent Concerns In Stuy Town, PCV

New, 6 comments

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN?The original Oro was one of the best selling buildings of 2012, and it's sister tower is now rising from the ground. A tipster sent along the above photo showing the start of the steel frame. Exciting! Plans were approved last summer for a 35-story 208-unit tower by designer Ismael Leyva. STUY-TOWN/PETER COOPER VILLAGE?Last month, rent-stabilized tenants in Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village filed for rent reductions to compensate for the loss of services during Hurricane Sandy. Lost services include security systems, elevators, intercoms, laundry rooms, and more. Elected officials are now raising concerns over a discrepancy between the Rent Stabilization Code and the Division of Housing and Community Renewal's policy that could affect when and how much tenants are compensated. For all the nitty gritty details, we posted the full letter from the officials to DHCR at the end of this post. [CurbedWire Inbox]
