Fourth Avenue Watch

Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge could see a drastic makeover, if a Department of Transportation plan to limit the busy thoroughfare to one lane in each direction and add median strips is approved by the community board. "The new designs are a response to resident complaints about speeding, double parking, and hazardous pedestrian conditions along the corridor," according to the Brooklyn Paper. Bay Ridge neighbors aren't thrilled about the proposal, even though city has sought input from area residents via both public forms and a nifty online tool, where commenters can leave their thoughts on virtual post-its stuck onto a map of the street. Fourth Avenue runs through Sunset Park and Park Slope, which are the next areas to get a revamp. [BK Paper via Brownstoner]
