Satire in the City

New, 1 comment

Some people who don't have to blog all day have a lot of free time on their hands, and it's people like that who created a website parodying Queen's Community Board 1, which represents (not well, if you believe the satire) Astoria. The site, which doesn't look all that similar to the official one, critiques the CB for being out of touch with the interests of the area's residents, supporting elected officials even when their ideas conflict with neighborhood sentiment, and for favoring property and business owners. It not-so-subtly digs at the board's older makeup: "While the average age in the community is 35 years, more than half the community board members are over 60 years old. Four of our members are nonagenarians! Maybe it's something in the air." [DNAinfo]
