"This is a great, concise history of the building. I worked there years ago and have a couple of quick comments: -The church design was one of the first big examples of American puritanism's attempts to come up with a design idea to compete with the Gothic Revival that Anglican churches (among others) were using. Gothic was too ornate and decadent, you see. -There's a statue of the Pinky sale in the church yard outside the arcade, and the pew Lincoln sat in is marked with a tiny silver plaque."?anon [A Building With a Mission: Brooklyn's Plymouth Church]
