"What most people don't realize is that the ORIGINAL Penn Station was run down and ugly by the early 1960s. The glass canopies hadn't been cleaned in years, and the Pennsylvania Railroad tried to "modernize" the interior by adding a 1950s Jet Age ticket counter that looked like the tail fins of a '59 Caddy.
