Welcome back to The Brokerbabble Glossary, where we take a word or a turn of phrase that seems to show up in an unreasonable number of listings and decipher its true meaning. If you have any ideas for us, send them to the tipline. Today's word: Quintessential.
One thing that real estate listings have to teach us is that everything is quintessential. This apartment, by dint of being located on the parlor floor and including some (quintessential) bay windows, is the quintessential parlor floor apartment. If it was located on the second floor, it would not be the quintessential parlor floor apartment, but it would probably be the quintessential second floor apartment. If it was located on the third floor, it would be a penthouse.
Just out of curiosity, can anyone think of a single classic New York movie where the main character lived in Midtown West?
In your one-bedroom apartment.
Perhaps the type that are featured in all those quintessential New York movies?
