With the imminent rezoning of Midtown East, several groups are pushing hard to landmark buildings so that they won't face the wrecking ball. Turns out their efforts haven't been entirely in vain, since the Landmarks Preservation Commission has sent out letters to the owners of eight area buildings informing them that they are up for consideration. Among them: JPMorgan Chase's 1958 tower at 270 Park Avenue; the 1927 Graybar Building at 420 Lexington Avenue (pictured); and the green glass former Girl Scout building at 830 Third Avenue. Also being vetted are the Radisson, Marriott, and Benjamin hotels on Lex. [NYP; previously]
