Plans were questionable for awhile, but developer Gregg Singer is definitely converting the old P.S. 64 into a college dorm?and it will have 500 beds. The renovation will cost $40 million, and there will be the usual dorm amenities of study rooms and a fitness/health center. The Cooper Union signed a 15-year agreement for its students to get priority for 200 beds, but the rest are up for grabs. The place will be creatively called "University House," and rents will run $1,550/month per bed. [WSJ; previously]
