Summer Near the Gowanus

New, 1 comment

The public Douglas and DeGraw swimming pool in Gowanus could be closed because of the EPA Superfund clean-up of the toxic canal. The pool sits on a formerly industrial site, and National Grid must decontaminate the soil beneath the pool. This work could temporarily close the swimming hole, but it could be permanently shutdown if the EPA decides to build sewage-retention tanks (to prevent overflow into the canal) on the site. Somehow, that doesn't sound nearly as refreshing as a swimming pool. [DNAinfo; previously]
