'Permanently Affordable' Housing?

New, 45 comments

In the run-up to the mayoral election, Council speaker Christine Quinn is championing the idea of "permanently affordable" housing, that is, incentivizing developers to build below-market units that, unlike so many others in the city, don't have a 30-year expiration date. But some groups are criticizing both the feasibility of her vision and the granting of city funds to an advocacy group the (Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development) that lobbies for her own goals. Affordable housing for middle-class families would be nice?if only we could get those darn capitalistic real estate folks on board. [WSJ]
