"I generally agree with the sentiments of commentator # 3 and on Jeremaih's New York, but I never understood the nostalgia for the gas stations as they vanish from Manhattan (I think there are four left?). First of all, this is exactly the sort of low industrial, low rise development that goes if there is any higher value development in an area at all, anyone who has played Sim City know that. Second, if all the remaining gas stations on Manhattan went then it would be more difficult to drive here and maybe fewer taxis, which would be a bad because, actually it would be a good thing. Only things you really want on the road below 96th Street are emergency vehicles, buses, and delivery trucks and the latter can fuel up in New Jersey."?Willem Kieft [From Gas Station to Glass Station at Houston and Lafayette]
