The seedy stretch of Sixth Avenue near West 4th Street is about to get a makeover. A couple of adjacent storefronts that make up 333 Sixth Avenue have been snatched up by a developer who envisions higher-end shops there (like, say, Nespresso). Currently known for neon-lit wiener seller Papaya Dog as well as a sex shop and tattoo parlor, neighborhood officials have found the intersection less than savory. Community Board 2 chair David Gruber called porn purveyor Fantasy Party "the bane of that area for some time" and isn't sorry to see it go.
