Rent Wars

New, 1 comment

Tenants of the Pinnacle Group, who sued the company way back in 2007 alleging tenant harassment and the illegal inflation of rents, have asked a federal appeals court to overturn the settlement of their suit. The tenants now have new lawyers, who say that the agreement actually leaves out most of the 22,000 tenants represented in the suit and that Pinnacle is liable for more than it had promised in the settlement. Pinnacle had also promised to have a court-appointed administrator hear tenants' complaints, but, the Times explains, the appeal puts all the provisions of the settlement on hold. [NYT; previously]
