Herald Square's Retail Makeover; Williamsburg's Health Kick

And now, the latest from Racked NY, shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) The World of Foot Fetishists: In its first ever Shoe Week, our sister site rounds up how many NYC women wear heels to work (and other shoe stats), as well as where to get XS and XL footwear, spiky soles that could double as weapons, and the 13 best shoe stores in the city. Meanwhile, BYO heels to Crunch's relaunched "stiletto strength" classes.

2) Midtown/Midtown West: Pretty soon, you might not just want to send your regards to Herald Square, but actually go there. Its retail scene is getting a makeover, with brands like Swatch and Urban Outfitters signing leases that have $1,000/square foot rents?prices typical for established shopping meccas like Soho or Times Square.

3) Williamsburg: Furthering the 'Burg's health & fitness kick, SoulCycle's planned location there has an opening date while Juice Press's first Brooklyn outpost won't be far behind. Get ready to don your neon spinning gear before downing some liquid kale.

4) Midtown East: Snack while you shop at Saks Fifth Avenue, which just added Brooklyn-based Vendome Macaron to its roster of edible offerings.
