Through a dramatically named undercover investigation called "Operation: Danger Included," the Department of Buildings has been cracking down on brokers and real estate agents who show illegal dwellings to prospective tenants. The DOB has targeted building owners in the past, but they are now looking at agents, too, as "they are the enablers." Agents at Douglas Elliman and Halstead Property are among the ten who have been slapped with fines, which start at $3,600 and can go up to five times that amount. [NYT]
