East Village activist John Penley was planning to camp out in front of infamous landlord Ben Shaoul's East Village office for an entire week to protest Shaoul's mistreatment of 88-year-old poet Taylor Mead. But he thought better of that plan and downsized it to a single night of protesting (probably a smart move, as it's almost impossible that Shaoul gives a crap either way), which occurred yesterday evening. Penley was joined by several other protesters, but had to leave early to protest a building on East 9th Street being turned into a dorm. [EVG; previously]
