Welcome to Cornerspotter, Curbed's game in which you try to identify the location and/or identity of a particular building or streetscape in a historic photograph. Impress us and your fellow Curbed readers with your uncanny insight into New York City and its past!
As it often goes in New York City, these lovely Victorian houses were replaced years ago by a structure much larger and much uglier. This photo was taken about thirty years before the current building was constructed, but it's unclear when exactly the houses were torn down. The church seen in the photo still stands today. Do you know where these houses were and what's located there now? Bonus points if you can name the photographer.
