Poor dog-walkers, joggers, cyclists, vampires, and other late-night recreation addicts. Ever since Hurricane Sandy knocked out Hudson River Park's lighting system from the Battery all the way up to 59th Street, the waterfront promenade has been closed after dusk. But the park's operators have promised that the necessary electrical wiring will be ship-shape by mid-May, allowing it to stay open until 1 a.m. instead of closing at dusk. But (ouch!) the price tag for the repairs has doubled from an initial estimate of $10 million to a new total of $20 million. [DNAinfo]
