Construction Watch

New, 5 comments

The old Metro Theater on Broadway was a sad, sad place destined for the doldrums of retail... until Alamo Drafthouse decided to buy it and show movies there once again?as well as serve up its famous full roster of food and booze. West Side Rag has a construction update with photos from the interior?so yes, that's still happening, albeit slowly. Originally posted by Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League on Flickr and Facebook, they reveal a space that's still gutted. Optimistically, Alamo has already come out with a menu (52 beers strong) for the three planned New York locations, which include Yonkers and Downtown Brooklyn, and they're known for offering special meals themed around the films being screened. Though it's later than expected, the overhauled UWS cinema is set to open next year. [WSR; previously]
