The controversial plan to use the toxic sludge from the Gowanus Canal to build a land mass off the shore of Red Hook has gained some community support. Members of the Red Hook Houses Community Action Coalition are in favor of the plan because it would create jobs for the neighborhood. The mass would be located on concrete tycoon John Quadrozzi Jr.'s property, and people weren't thrilled that he'd be using it to expand his company. [Brooklyn Paper; previously]
