During the torrential downpour we had yesterday, the Gowanus Canal, to the surprise of no one, flooded. Coincidentally, this was the day after councilman Brad Lander issued a statement asking the city to study the adverse "hydrologic impacts"?i.e. how water moves?of Lightstone's massive canal-side development planned for 363-365 Bond Street. The project would raise the streets near the canal so the building meets FEMA flood zone requirements, but neighbors fear the regraded streets would simply funnel the water onto different properties.
