Exploring New York City's interminable history of neighborhood beefs just got easier. Almost 1 million City Council-related documents dating back to 1965?including correspondence between constituents and elected officials on matters of eviction, libraries, local crime, and so much more?have been digitized and made public this week, courtesy of the LaGuardia and Wagner archives at LaGuardia Community College. The complete online archive is a bit unwieldy to search, but you can find scanned versions of handwritten letters with still-applicable themes?like one in which a 1985 tenant is worried he is being overcharged in rent and another from a mother complaining about the preponderance of topless (and bottomless) bars in 1967.
