Last summer, we pedaled a couple of hundred feet on the bright blue set of wheels that is The CitiBike and found that it is kinda heavy and slow. Daily News reporter Simon Weischelbaum and self-proclaimed fixie bike snob straddled a prototype this weekend and found the same thing, but with feeling. The best lines from her curmudgeonly review? "This isn't a bike. It's an SUV.... [E]xerting all my energy got me to about 7 mph. Joggers go faster than that. Yawn. CitiBikes are too slow to survive a New York minute." And, when it was all over, "Does anyone have a back brace with a side of codeine?" (The Post also went for a trial ride, but was actually a lot more polite about it.) [NYDN; previously]
