The third time was the charm for starchitect Annabelle Selldorf and her large condo building coming to the northwest corner of Crosby and Broome Streets (where there is currently a parking lot). After striking out twice at the Landmarks Preservation Commission with a design that paired a five-story base with a set back four-story top, Selldorf relented and took the commissioners' advice, adding a floor to the base and mostly removing the setback section. The new building will be a much more conventional six stories with a one-story recessed penthouse. Other changes to the design included thinning the spandrels a little bit and having the facade made entirely out of steel in order to give it a lighter look. The LPC approved wholeheartedly.
