A tipster strolling by the corner of William and Beekman streets earlier this week spotted the above signage on the corner lot, where construction has just begun. A little digging indicates that the project, 33 Beekman Street, is a future Pace University dorm. When finished?the latest end date being "late 2015"&3151;33 Beekman will be 34 stories tall. Of course, this isn't the first project planned for the lot?it was once supposed to be a Sam Chang-designed Hyatt Place, before Chang sold off the lot. Perhaps a smart move for Pace?following McSam may be the best way to get a dorm accepted without too much complaining in this town.
