The 2005 Williamsburg rezoning called for 1,345 units of affordable housing, but eight years later, only 19 of those units have actually been finished. City officials tell DNAinfo that some of the chosen affordable housing sites have "presented unique challenges," which doesn't really explain why the city expected to be able to build 1,345 units of them in any reasonable amount of time in the first place. But 722 of the promised apartments should be coming to Greenpoint's waterfront towers in the near-ish future. [DNAinfo; previously]
