Will Alfa's Next Project Go Green Or Veer Steampunk?

The ink is officially dry on Alfa Development's $12 million purchase of 117-119 West 21st Street?just down the street from its ecotastic condo development Chelsea Green, which topped out in February. Formerly a Hershey factory warehouse, the site can accommodate 32,489 square feet worth of new construction, and Alfa plans to make it a "high-end residential development" a lot like, who'dve guessed it, neighbor Chelsea Green. Can we expect solar-powered hot water here, too? Though Alfa is also working on a "steampunk"-inspired project in Nolita, so we can only hope for an innovative mashup of alternative energy that powers retro-futuristic-Victorian machinery.
