While the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation was on its way back to the office after yesterday's Mary Help of Christians rally, an attempt to save the church buildings from demolition for a planned luxury rental building, the preservationists spotted something. That something might be the old eastern wall of the cemetery that could have been located on the Mary Help of Christians lot in the 19th century. Preservationists are arguing that there might still be human remains buried there, and thus the site should be archaeologically surveyed before anything new is built on the spot. [GVSHP; previously]
