Pyramid Schemes

New, 1 comment

The Bjarke Ingels pyramid at 625 West 57th Street already has plenty of quirks, but here's one more: it's one of two buildings that developer the Durst Organization is hoping to finance through the EB-5 visa program, which grants green cards to foreign citizens who invest at least $500,000 (per family) in certain types of projects in the U.S.. (The other project that could benefit from EB-5 funds is Durst's planned office/apartment/retail tower at Sixth Avenue and 31st Street.) The Durst Organization is seeking about $260 million through EB-5, giving new meaning to this whole foreign buyer trend. [WSJ; previously]
