People have gotten themselves into a tizzy over our libraries, whether it's because they're being renovated or sold off, but forget all that?there's a new type of library in town. Ten tiny and totally awesome "Little Free Libraries" created by local architecture firms will pop up throughout downtown Manhattan this weekend thanks to a small design competition hosted by the PEN World Voices Festival and the Architectural League of New York. They'll be installed through September 1?that is if they last through the weekend. [NYT; official]
