At long last, Shake Shack really is opening an outpost in Grand Central Terminal this year. Plans for the station's Shake Shack were announced two years ago, but a lawsuit from the prior tenant, Mexican eatery Zocalo, delayed things. Zocalo has now vacated the space, and Shake Shack will be paying $435,000 in annual rent at the start of its lease, with that number increasing over the 10-year term.
