Boarding in the Bronx

New, 1 comment

Fancy an ollie? Eight Bronx-based artists have put together an installation-slash-skate park in front of a historic Grand Concourse building. In a past life, the Andrew Freedman House served as a stately home for elderly retirees, and it now houses a daycare center, B&B, and creative space. At Skate the Bronx, which cost $6,000 to build and is on view till August 31, expect not just ramps but also sculptures, a yarn-wrapped tree, and "a recording of Bronx sounds." Hmm... traffic?
