Ben Stiller Loses $1M Selling Apartment Near The Museum

New, 39 comments

Ben Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor put their Riverside Drive 5BR/5.5BA on the market last summer for $400K less than they paid for it. Then they PriceChopped to $9.3M in February. No buyer bit, perhaps because there are no male models and their orange mocha frappuccinos to be found, unfortunately... just some kids. But now that the deal has been sealed, Co-op Sales reports, we know that they've actually lost a full $1 million on the duplex, originally paying $10 million in 2008 and ultimately offloading it for $8.995 million.

Where the Stiller family is moving is still a mystery, but perhaps it proved too overwhelming living near his childhood home and the setting for one of his movies. And the sleepovers and tours based on said movie. Aaaaand perhaps the third museum-set film in the works was just the final sign to get the heck out of AMNH land.

The two-level apartment on Riverside and 84th Street spans 4,000 square feet, full of modern decor with all the brokerbabbly trappings of a luxury apartment along with river views. Stiller and Taylor bought the place from Ann Zabar, of THE Zabar family that runs the gourmet Jewish deli on 80th Street that is an Upper West Side Institution. They may not miss the museum, but we bet they'll miss the Sunday morning lox run.
