When opponents of the proposed Marine Transfer Station on 91st Street filed lawsuits back in November, they pointed out that the site is squarely located in Zone A. Now city-commissioned analysts have some serious numbers to back up their concerns. Evidently, the current design is 5.59 feet below the FEMA flood levels, and simply raising the station up wouldn't do any good. To build a flood-proof tower o' garbage on this site would required $2.4 million worth of protective infrastructure. Still, the city says they'll make it work. [DNAinfo; previously]
