A housing bill extending tax breaks to low and middle income housing that just sailed through the state Legislature also contained language that made five new luxury developments, included One57, eligible for 421-a abatements. The bill's sponsors claim to not know where the language came from, but support the tax breaks nonetheless. The developers of the projects have given a combined $1.5 million to various state campaign committees over the past four years. [NYDN; previously]
