Slope's Methodist Hospital To Expand; New Digs at 530 Park

New, 5 comments

PARK SLOPE?A tipster from the Slope sent along a letter that was placed on buildings near New York Methodist Hospital last week, and it seems that the medical center is planning a huge expansion. The hospital owns several buildings on Fifth Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, and our tipster says that the project will involve the demolition of some 15 buildings, including five brownstones. The letter does not give specifics, except to say that construction would not begin until next year. Unlikely most of the neighborhood, the block is not landmarked. A public meeting to share the plans is being held at the hospital this Thursday. We can't imagine it will be a very friendly atmosphere. [CurbedWire Inbox]

UPPER EAST SIDE?Two new luxury residences are now available at 530 Park Avenue. There's a 5,500-square-foot, five-bedroom home on the 18th floor with several terraces (rendered above, floorplan after the jump), as well as an 11,000-square-foot townhouse with a private street entrance. The 5BR is asking $23.75 million, but the price of the townhouse is still unknown, as the listing is not yet live. In addition to these, the building's website shows 13 other units available. ROOSEVELT ISLAND?Developer Forest City Ratner has been tapped to complete the co-location building of Cornell Tech's first phase. Designed by Weiss/Manfredi, the building will host 200,000-square-feet of flexible office space for tech companies and incubators, and Cornell Tech will lease 50,000-square-feet. The building's purpose is to foster connections between active tech companies and students, and it should open by 2017. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
