Stadium Watch

New, 2 comments

A Queens stadium (No, not that one. Or that one.) is preparing to return to the spotlight with an August concert by Billboard-topping British band Mumford & Sons. The Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, once home to the U.S. Open, has fallen into disuse, but the stadium's operators hope to pay for repairs and upgrades by hosting 19 concerts over the next three years. The August concert is something of a pilot to see how it works with the neighbors, who?surprise, surprise?have not welcomed concerts in the recent past. In the '60s, however, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, and more all graced the stadium's stage. [NYT]
