After planning to grace the Bowery with its presence, Anthropologie has changed its mind, backing out of a lease at 250 Bowery because the retailer is unhappy with the buildout of the space. On paper, of course, the explanation is that the landlord didn't meet its "performance dates" after Sandy damage. Whatever the reason, the space is now asking $1 million/year from its next tenant, and Bowery Boogie believes "the loss of Anthropologie is most definitely a setback, albeit temporary, for those grand visions of a gold coast along the Bowery."
