The Upper West Side's Theodore Roosevelt Park sits in a prime location?it surrounds the Museum of Natural History?but that has downsides. The biggest one: people think the park is museum property (it isn't), which means it has a lot of trouble raising money. Keeping the park up costs $250,000/year, and the Parks Department only provides some of that funding. A neighborhood advisory group is at work on some new ideas for the park, including solar lighting and a new drainage system, and for where the rest of its upkeep costs could come from. [DNAinfo]
